Frequently Asked Questions

What equipment are we using?

We have numerous high-quality vocal microphones to choose from, with options from Telefunken, Sony, AKG, and more—all situated in a professionally treated isolation booth. We typically record vocals through light analog compression to aid in consistency and sound quality, but this can be bypassed if desired. Our microphone preamp of choice for audiobook production is the Grace M101, widely renowned for its crystal-clear audio quality and incredibly low noise floor.

Who is this service for?

Our audiobook production services are perfect for narrators, authors and publishers who are looking for a place to record, or need editing and mixing services. If you're an audiobook narrator that records at home, allow us to edit and master your audio so that it's as clean and clear as possible and meets industry standard requirements (as per Audible and ACX). If you're a narrator or author who needs a place to record, come to our comfortable and professional workspace, and work with a seasoned, friendly engineer.

What is your pricing like?

Please contact us for more information. We typically price projects by the hour, and can provide discounts for block bookings or continual projects. Once we get some basic information about your project, we can provide a quote.

What is your production process like?

For audiobooks, if recording is necessary, then we will schedule a session with you at our studio in Everett to record the narration. Once the narration is recorded, we will agree upon a future time at which the editing will be complete by. You can expect quick turnarounds and full transparency regarding the scheduling of the editing process. Expect editing sessions to take place within the next week after recording: therefore, depending on the size of the project, you can also expect to receive at least a portion of the finished audio within one week of recording—or the entire project. If you're on a tighter schedule, let us know and we'll do everything we can to accommodate your needs.

I need to record and/or film my podcast. Can you help with the process?

Absolutely. In addition to audiobook production and recording, we also offer podcast recording and filming services for anywhere in the greater Boston area. Click here to learn more.
